One of the days we were there was a school holiday and our daughter took the day off from work. So we decided to do some exploring of the So. California area that was new to us. I discovered not far from where they live was a state park called Abalone Cove where we could view tide pools, see link for more info: Abalone Cove. We checked the time for low tide and headed out on our adventure.
It was a great day for exploring. It's not your typical beach with sand, but rather lots of rocks. So we diffidently had to watch our step.
We made discoveries.
And enjoyed the beautiful day.
This is another shot of the park. There is a large area to explore.
Miranda enjoying the view.
It was a bit of a trek down and back up the trail so Miranda takes a break. After all our exercise we decided it was time for lunch.
A thought to ponder: "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."

How wonderful to see your granddaughter in Peter Pan and you wre very fortunate to be allowed to take photographs. This would NOT be allowed in the UK. Love the beach shots also
ReplyDeleteLove these kind of outings! There is always something interesting to see. There's also something about the view of the ocean, smell the salt in the air that is so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Southern Calif. we lived 20 min. from the beach (Costa Mesa), so I miss seeing the ocean! We still live in CA, but 3 1/2 hrs. from San Francisco. So, I really appreciate you linking up with SEASONS, and hope to see you next week too:)
What a wonderful time to spend a day in SoCal.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice time you had in So California! Your granddaughter looked so wonderful in her roles in Peter Pan and that cove was just magical! I really like California and have traveled there many times, exploring different parts of the state. I discovered shrimp tacos in Santa Barbara--now one of my favorite foods!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day you had at the tidal pools.

Welcome to Nature Notes Jackie... I can't wait to spend some nature time with our grandson, but he is only 11 months old. Your grand-daughter is beautiful and I know you had a wonderful time.. Michelle
ReplyDeleteI know you're proud of her performances! Your coastline looks a lot like mine here in New Zealand! The 'washboard' coastline surprised me--I thought we had a monopoly on it :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to walk around!!
ReplyDeleteRocky beaches and rock pools are the best for exploring

What a lovely spot. I have never heard of Abalone Cove so I googled it and saw that it is in Palos Verdes. We will have to visit there some day.
